Nana Addo Is Against My Election As MCE For Ejisu-Juaben - Ponkor Accuses

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Presidential Candidate for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is next in line of the accusation of the embattled former Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly, Yamoah Ponkor over his inability to ascend the MCE throne.

According to the twice rejected MCE nominee, Nana Akufo-Addo has joined the crusade of the NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako a.k.a Chairman Wontumi to campaign vigorously against his becoming the MCE for Ejisu-Juaben in the Ashanti Region.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Yamoah Ponkor maintained his allegation that Bernard Antwi Boasiako is behind his (Ponkor’s) rejection to retain the MCE seat at Ejisu-Juaben.

He again asserted that 41 assembly members out of the 48 at the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly are members of the opposition NPP; making sure he never retained the seat as Municipal Chief Executive.

He however was of the view that the recent visit of Nana Akufo-Addo to Ejisu-Juaben during the limited registration to interact with assembly members confirms his suspicion that the NPP is hell-bent on denying him the position.

“It is very clear because Wontumi and his NPP have said they will do everything to make sure I don’t have any grounds to operate at Ejisu-Juaben. Anytime President Mahama will nominate, they come here for a meeting; it is an open secret that 41 out of the 48 assembly members are NPP sympathizers and members and it is these people that the NPP met with them to discuss me,” he alleged.

“They have sworn heaven and earth that they will make sure the people at the assembly will always vote against me from the becoming the MCE. Do you know that when EC started the limited registration, Nana Akufo-Addo himself came here [Ejisu-Juaben assembly]? If it is just a tour, how come he didn’t go anywhere else except Ejisu-Juaben assembly direct?”, he quizzed.

He indicated that the visit of Nana Akufo-Addo to Ejisu-Juaben assembly means that they will stop at nothing to ensure he does not become the MCE for Ejisu-Juaben.

Mr. Yamoah Ponkor has been under pressure after his rejection on April 12, 2016 by the members of the assembly and the rejected nominee has since accused the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako as the architect behind his defeats.
