CODEC Condemns Irresponsible Political Comments

CODEC has learnt with grave concern the irresponsible and reprehensible conduct of some political actors to divide this nation into its religious, tribal, or even regional parts. We therefore appeal to all political actors to desist from such untoward behavior.

This country is built on a constitution that fosters the respect for all persons irrespective of their religious creed, tribal origin or social status, and therefore efforts that derail our quest to sustain this cardinal principle must be seen as anathema to the spirit of our social structure and national cohesion.

Furthermore, we strongly believe that citizens of this country do not and would not place much premium on the religious or tribal configuration at the Flagstaff House as compared to their economic or social advancement. A polemical justification for an orientation that does not guarantee their access to better economic prospects, healthcare and infrastructure is therefore a non-starter.

During this upcoming campaign, we urge all politicians to ensure that debates on economic policy and structure, social augmentation and civil mechanics, foreign policy and diplomacy amongst others lead the way in winning the hearts and minds of Ghanaians towards securing their political mandate.

We also advise that politics should not just be the bridge that links to the Flagstaff House, but must also contribute towards raising the social consciousness and uniting us as a people towards reaching our highest aspirations of political, social and economic advancement.

Finally, we will want to encourage all Ghanaians to ignore such needless political polemics and focus on contributions that will lead to building a brighter future for us all.
