The police at Sogakope in the Volta Region have arrested three constituency executives of the main opposition party, the New Patriotic Party for allegedly inserting the name and photograph of one Frankis Nyamesekpo in their register, as the registered member of the party. The suspects � Emmanuel Agama, first Vice Chairman for South Tongu, Jokeman Dzotefe, Secretary and Mr. Kornu Nana Abacha, Assistant Secretary, after inserting the name and photograph of Nyamasepko, connived with some National Democratic Congress (NDC) executives in the same constituency to send a petition to President Mills that the victim was a strong NPP man and does not deserve his appointment as the National Youth Coordinator in the constituency. The District Police Commander, Supt. Amofah confirmed the arrest of the suspects when the Chronicle newspaper contacted him on Sunday, but he refused to go into the details of the case, saying that investigations were still ongoing. Sources at the district police headquarters told The Chronicle that the accused persons have admitted to the offence and confessed that were lured by some top NDC members to bring the image of certain individuals in the constituency into disrepute, and to further create cracks within the NDC. Days after the acting National Youth Coordinator, Mr. Abuga Pele had signed Nyamesekpo�s letter of appointment, the NPP officials removed the picture of their constituency youth organizer, Mr. Fameyobor from their register and replaced it with that of Nyamesekpo to indicate that the appointed individual was a registered member of the NPP. Because of this �discovery�, the NDC youth in the constituency sent a petition, which was signed by one Emmanuel Bugno Gator to President Mills, alleging that the NDC gurus in the constituency were imposing an employee on them. Based on this allegation, the MP for the area, Mr. Woyome, tasked the police to investigate the matter, since according to him, it was clear that the NPP officials had removed the pictures of the substantive youth organizer and replaced it with that of the NDC activist. The police, according to reliable sources declined to conduct investigations until a team was set up by President Mills to direct the sector Minister, who in turn asked the acting Coordinator and the Regional coordinator, to critically examine the merits and demerits of the case. When the President�s committee of inquiry visited the constituency, they uncovered the sinister plans of the NPP executives. Mr. Jokeman Dzotefe, the first person to be contacted by the investigative team admitted to the offence and confessed that it was a conspiracy. He then mentioned the other accomplices. The investigation team subsequently reported the case to the police, leading to their arrest.
