PHOTOS: Fans Stand On Seats At New Cape Coast Stadium

The inauguration of the newly built Cape Coast Stadium Tuesday was marred by a poor spectacle  that portrayed an ailing principle of maintenance culture by Ghanaians.

Some pictures circulating on various social media platforms captured a section of the spectators present who found no reason in using the chairs beautifully fixed for its purpose, but rather chose to use it as a platform to watch the event.

What went behind the scenes at yesterday’s beautiful outdooring event  of the Cape Coast stadium has been criticized by many who are skeptical about the future of the facility judging by the disgust that characterised the event.

The stadium, which sits 16,000 people, was constructed by Chinese firm Jiang Xi International Corporation and was fully financed by the Chinese government.

Construction was completed earlier this year and following its official opening, the ground will now be available to the general public.

The stadium has a tennis court, a gymnasium, an eight-lane running track, two basketball courts, handball courts, halls for table tennis and accommodation for athletes.
