Kojo Antwi, a Taxi Driver who resisted arrest for possessing a foreign pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunitions without lawful authority has been put before court.

Kojo is also reported to have caused harm to some Police Officers but had pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

The court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandor, remanded him into police custody to reappear on May 17.

The facts of the case as presented by Chief Superintendent of Police, Duuti Tuaruka were that, on January 1, upon information received by the Regional Police Command in Accra, the accused was said to be holding a foreign pistol and ammunition.

He said based on that, a team of plain clothes policemen were dispatched from the Regional CID to Mamprobi where the accused was arrested in his room.

The prosecution said a search conducted on him revealed one foreign pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition hidden in a heap of sand in the room.

He told the court that, in an attempt to arrest him, Kojo resisted arrest and struggled with the arresting officers. He bit two of them, one on the left palm and the other on his right toe which enabled him escape from arrest.

Chief Superintendent of Police, Tuaruka said, Kojo was chased and re- arrested upon re-enforcement from the Mamprobi Police.

In his caution statement, he denied ownership of the pistol but could not disclose who the owner was to the Police. He however admitted having struggled with the police to escape arrest.
