I Dropped Case Against Wontumi To Save My Mother Constituency Secretary

The New Patriotic Party’s Constituency Secretary in Menhyia North, Felix Ibrahim says he decided to withdraw an assault case against the regional Chairman of the party because his mother was being threatened.

Speaking on Joy FM, the constituency executive said his mother begged him to drop the charges after receiving threatening calls.

“My mum advised me", he said, adding, "she said she has been threatened and the pressure on her is too much so she begged me to drop the charges."

He said anything could happen to his mother if he refuses to drop the case.

Felix Ibrahim was allegedly assaulted by the NPP’s regional chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako on May 1, 2016 during the Electoral Commission’s Limited Biometric Voter Registration exercise in the Ashanti Region.

Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwah was also reportedly  slapped by the regional chairman who is popularly known as ‘Chairman Wontumi’.

The incident was reported to the police and Chairman Wontumii arrested. He was however granted bail on Wednesday by the Asokwa District Magistrate Court.
