A mother is fighting for the dowry of her daughter who was allegedly divorced for bed-wetting in Malindi, Kenya.
And the Malindi/Lango Baya District Officer Josephine Njenga has ordered that the woman be taken to hospital for a pregnancy test.
The husband, who was accompanied by three of his brothers at the DOs office, said he divorced his wife because she would wet the bed and refuse to take the mattress outside to dry.
This made my house stink and a source of shame, he told the DO on Tuesday.
He said he married the woman in July and has tried his best to help her stop the habit to no avail.
But the girls mother took the issue to the DO after the village elders seemed to dilly-dally over her demands for payment of bride price.
The couple are primary school dropouts.
