Muslim Youth Must Not Be Used As Destructive Tools � Boniface

The former Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Madina in the Greater Accra region, has admonished Moslem youth to desist from being used as destructive tools during and after theNovember 7, polls.

According to Alhaji Sidique Abukakar Boniface, the National Chief Imam, Dr. Nuhu Shaributu, has led the way for all Moslem youth to embrace peace ahead of the electioneering campaign.

He explained that Moslems are peace loving people and anything aside that is outside the Islamic fraternity.

The former Cabinet Minister in the ex-President John Agyekum kufour’ s administration, gave this word of advice to Moslem youth when he appeared as
a guest on Kantanka TV’s Islamic programme dubbed ‘ The Platform of Truth‘ hosted by Alhaji Osmanu Guarrantee in Accra.

He called on the youth to shun and avoid being used as catalyst for the destruction of the enviable peace the country is enjoying ahead presidential and parliamentary elections.

Most of the time the breeding grounds for the fomenting of troubles are the Zongo areas, because these happen to be the areas some unscrupulous politicians go to engage these energetic youth to causemayhem during electionsHe posited.

He said, Moslem youth are unique people who have the ability and capabilities to memorize the Quran at early stages of their lives.

“Because Islam is supposed to be a religion of hope and a beacon of peace to many young men in the various Zongo areas across the country they do so religiously “

He took the opportunity to challenge Moslem Youth to make this year’s elections an incident free one.

He was of the view that, it is about time Moslem youth gain political heights not by visiting mayhem on innocent people.

He said many Moslem youth have the power to transform their lives and that a university education is just a means into the world.

There a many people are successful without university education according to him, Mohammed Ali became the world’s best boxer without a university degree and at a point in career said there are two great things in the world” the Great Britain and the Great Mohammed Ali”

But with youth empowerment; youth education and development many more Moslem youth would transform their lives, as many more of them are looking for the opportunitiesto be tutored into the world of realities.

He explained that it with this background that, the NPP administration in 2007 made him Minister for Manpower Development after he had helped to bury the late Ya-na Yakubu Andani as the Northern Regional Minister.

He with help from his colleague Cabinet Ministers rolled out the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), which became a flagship programme for youth empowerment.

He said the programme helped many Moslem youth Identify their talents and some subsequently ended up being enrolled into the Ghana Army, Ghana Police, and National Fire Service among others.

He stressed that a handful of them are practicing as nurses because the skilled identification programmes they were taken through the NYEP.

These stop gap measure programmes gave many Moslem youth the opportunity to generate capital to transform their lives and it is exactly what he intends doing for the youth of Madina come January 7, 2017.
