You Need MP, President From Same Party For Development Veep Amissah Arthur

Development in the various constituencies will come faster if they had a Member of Parliament who belonged to the same political party as the sitting president, according to Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur.

It is in this light that the Vice President asked the people of Adansi Asokwa Constituency in the Ashanti Region, to vote out the incumbent New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament, KT Hammond, to make way for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate, Evans Amankwah.

According to him, voting for the NDC Parliamentary Candidate in November will ensure that they have a representative with direct access to the President because they are both from the same party.

The Vice President made these comments when he visited that constituency to observe the ongoing limited voters’ registration exercise.

Mr. Amissah Arthur intimated that that simple role the people could play in development was to ensure they had a representative who had the president’s ear.

“In the quest to bring development, the people must be on board to help us deliver progress to your town therefore if we had a member of parliament who would think about this place, together with the president, that would be of immense benefit to you.”

He however noted that the people of Adansi Asokwa voted for the NDC presidential candidate but opted for an NPP MP who cannot meet with the president.

He thus urged them to vote for an MP who would have better access to the President as this would ensure more development for the area.

“…But Adansi Asokwa, you vote for a president from one side and an MP from another side who cannot even go to the Flagstaff House. As for this year, you should vote for someone who can boldly walk to the Flagstaff House and deliberate on matters of your development with the president. That is what will bring much more development to this area than you are currently witnessing.”

The Vice President maintained that constituencies needed an MP who had the president’s ear for development to come at a faster rate saying, “for your development to come at a faster rate, you need an MP and a president from the same party so that he can always have the president’s ear and even walk to his living room and bedroom to present your concerns directly to him.”
