Some commercial drivers in Accra have appealed to the IGP to institute measures to check officials of the Police MTTU who according to the drivers have allegedly made it their business to extort money from them upon the slightest mistake by the drivers.
Speaking to Peacefmonline in an interview, some of the commercial drivers said harassment of commercial drivers by most the MTTU officials has become so serious that it is having an adverse effect on commercial driving in the country.
Whilst appreciating the significant contribution of the MTTU in maintaining discipline on the roads through strict enforcement of road traffic regulation, the commercial drivers were of the view that some of the MTTU officials are in the police service just to enrich themselves.
