The Wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur, has appealed to women groups  in the Jomoro  District  of Western Region to make proper use of the funding support from  the Micro-finance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC)  to enable them undertake and, or expand their economic activities to take care of their families.

The striking warning, was giving to the beneficiaries when she interacted with petty traders in the Jomoro District, where the Micro-finance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) presented a cheque for GH¢120, 000, to 8 groups made up of 200 women in the Jomoro District.

According to the Second Lady, the loan facility which is a revolving fund is only given to traders as startup cash for their businesses and pay back for others to benefit, but not money meant for merrymaking and Politics.

Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur denied claims that the Centre was for government sympathizers and faithful, saying “MASLOC is for all Ghanaians”. So the moneys that were being distributed should not be seen as political money, so the need for them to pay in time so that others can get access to it.

The Wife of the Vice President lauded the women groups for registering the cooperatives and submitting the list to MASLOC to enable the women to receive the financial support.

The Second Lady commended the people of the area for sustaining the peace in the district and urged them to continue to co-exist to accelerate.

The beneficiaries included fish mongers, food vendors, hairdressers, foodstuffs sellers and petty traders all in the Jomoro District of the western Region.

As the initiators for the facility, she explained that the amount was given as small loans and the beneficiaries were expected to repay within six months.

The Second Lady commended the hospital management and staff of hospital for the good job that they are doing and encouraged them to do more to ensure quality healthcare for the country. And was still committed in helping to raise awareness about the critical maternal issues in the country,

Some of the items were beds, mattresses, crutches, Zima frames, trolleys, theatre equipment wheel chairs, safety boxes, syringes, walking racks, among others.
