$250m Diversion: Terkper Deserves A Sheep For Such a Wonderful Decision NDC MP

Member of Parliament (MP) for Techiman South, Hon. Mensah Adjei has emphatically stated that the Minister of Finance deserves a sheep as a reward for the perfect decision he took on behalf of the State.

“ . . The Minister had nothing else to do with the Eurobond Fund than investing it into a private company on behalf of the nation to make profit which was a best decision he took for the country,” he said on UTV.

According to him “the Minister could not have used that invested amount for any kind of developmental project apart from what it was apportioned for, that was why he went in for another loan to deal with the development projects at hand . . .”

Hon. Mensah Adjei also noted that the investment made has already generated an interest of GHc23m Ghana Cedis.

“In fact this is free income to the state, how wonderful it is that we must all embrace and be glad,” he told Lawyer Tweneboah Kodua host of UTV’s morning show ‘Adekye Nsroma’.

He added that Ghanaians should rather be lauding the Minister of Finance for his bold decision.

Finance Minister Seth Terkper has been asked to resign by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over government’s decision to divert 250 million dollars of the total proceeds from the $1 billion Eurobond issued in 2015 to a private bank.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, running mate to flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo- Addo accused the ruling government of diverting $250million of the latest Eurobond proceeds to a private bank in Ghana.

He made this known at a gathering of students at the Accra Polytechnic last Thursday.

But government rubbished the claims made by the economist cum politician; saying the transaction is not against the law.

To the Finance Minister, the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana's assertions are "factually wrong, technically deficient and gives a wrong impression to both Ghanaian and international investors and development partners".
