Bribes: NDC Man Dares Prez Mahama To Follow Him To Antoa

A senior member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has challenged President John Mahama to swear before the dreaded Antoa deity as a means of proving that he is indeed not corrupt.

George Boateng says he doubts the President’s claim of never taking a bribe in his life, hence the challenge.

“There is no way I would believe the claim of the President that he is not corrupt. If President Mahama believes in himself that he is indeed not corrupt, I am challenging him to follow me to Antoa…yes, I will drag him to Antoa myself, so that he would come and swear that indeed he has never taken bribe…I doubt…,” he said on Accra-based Oman FM’s on Thursday.

The President during an interview on BBC’s Focus on Africa said he has never taken a bribe.

“Any human being in the world would have encountered corruption one way or the other, either being offered a bribe or a bribe being demanded from you. What you need to do is to put yourself in a position to (resist it)…

.
When the interviewer, Peter Okwoche, asked him directly if he has taken a bribe, Mr. Mahama responded: “No, I haven’t taken bribe”.

This response has not gone down well with some Ghanaians, with many describing the President as one who did not tell the truth.

Former scribe of the New Patriotic Party, Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, also known as Sir John claimed the President lied to the international community.

“John Mahama is not an angel and he knows that he has several scars on him as a politician…he is a constant receiver of bribes…,” he said on Adom FM Friday.

George Boateng, who was disqualified from contesting the President at the 2015 primaries of the NDC, said he was also certain the President takes bribes.

He has thus challenged the President to come with him and swear before the dreaded Antoa deity in Kumasi to back up his claim of innocence.
