Prez Mahama Should Emulate Ex-Prez Kufuor - Yamoah Ponkoh

Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region, Yamoah Afrifa Ponkoh has re-emphasised the reason the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) must not honour the IEA Presidential Debate.

According to him, the second term approach of President John Mahama should be focused on the election and not on Presidential Debate as there is no time for the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) debate.

The IEA says the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) cannot boycott this year’s debate slated for September, adding the debate is for the good of the political parties and so it will not be in their best interest to boycott it.

But Yamoah Ponkoh on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show prompted President Mahama to emulate the style of former President John Agyekum Kufuor who in his quest for the second term didn’t attend the IEA Debate.

He reiterated that just as President Kufuor did, there is no need for President Mahama to honour this year’s debate.

“There shouldn’t be any agreement for him to honour the presidential debate with Nana Akufo Addo; for what reason should he honour the debate? Someone told me that President Kufuor in his second term didn’t attend the IEA debate because he didn’t see the need to go and President Mahama should do the same thing,” he argued.
