EC Has Opened The Flood Gates For Electoral Violence...

The Electoral Commission (EC) has opened the floodgates for violence in the November 7 general elections.

That is the verdict of pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) after the EC said it cannot remove names of NHIS card holders in the electoral roll. Convener of the group, David Asante in an interview on Adom News said the statement by the Commission amount to gross disrespect to the apex court of the land.

The Electoral Commission in a statement said names of persons who registered with National Health Insurance cards will not be deleted from the electoral roll.

At an Inter - Party Advisory Committee meeting on Thursday, May 19, the Commission said the Supreme Court did not order it to delete names of NHIS registrants.

This has generated a lot of controversy with the plaintiff threatening the haul all seven commissioners of the electoral body to court for contempt.

In support, David Asante said the EC is deliberating disregarding the orders of the Supreme Court to favour the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Is the EC telling us they need extra sense to understand the Supreme Court ruling? They are just doing this to plunge this country into chaos” he fumed.

On the way forward, David Asante said they will use any legal means possible to ensure the EC complies with the ruling of the Court.
