The long arm of instant justice, caught up with a young man in an interesting scene of attempted robbery, recorded late Wednesday night. The alleged thief, believed to be in his mid-thirties, was seriously strung up near the Kaneshie CMB Flats, and close to Avenue Chemist within the Tesano Police Station locality in Accra. The incident was said to have occurred this evening at about 22:20hours GMT. An eyewitness who spoke to PEACEFM a short while ago, said the alleged thief after he had succeeded in snatching the mobile phone from the lady, decided to walk underneath a slightly covered drain and surface at the other end of the gutter with the booty. But a group of bystanders who happened to live in the area, the crafty young man would have succeeded in his daring escapade. They deduced that the robber was likely to emerge from a different route. True to their prediction, the alleged thief confidently tramped out with the mobile phone at the far end of the drain. He was subsequently set upon by the bystanders and nearly lynched to death, but for the timely arrival of the Tesano Police. He was taken to a hospital to receive medical attention and later charged with stealing.
