Political parties and their supporters have been urged to engage in more healthy campaign – substantive on issues, to help voters make the right judgement on voting day.
Mr. Patrick Asare, a civic education officer at the Asante-Akim South district office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), said they should avoid peddling rumours, falsehood and deception.
He was speaking at a civic education forum held for members of the Young People’s Guild (YPG) of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Juaso.
It was to sensitise them on their civic responsibilities and the need for political tolerance as the nation prepares for the polls.
Mr. Asare encouraged all qualified voters to turn out in their numbers to vote on the day of the elections.
He asked the youth not to allow anybody to hide behind them to cause mischief, confusion and trouble ahead of the presidential and parliamentary elections.
“You should demand from all the political leaders decent and responsible conduct to sustain the peace because it is important for you to insist on clean political campaign devoid of insults, intemperate and vulgar language,” he said.
Mavis Asantewaa Yeboah, President of the Guild, said the group would do everything it could to assist young people to conduct themselves well.
