NPP Ends Retreat

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has ended a three-day retreat in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

The retreat was attended by the Presidential Candidate of the party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, his running mate, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, all NPP members of parliament, members of the party's campaign team, campaign managers, all aspiring members of parliament and selected regional executive members.
Purpose of retreat

The purpose of the retreat, held behind closed doors, was to review the performance of the party in order to renew, recharge and retool its arsenals towards this year's general election.

It was also to identify specific difficulties and challenges facing the party and fashion out relevant messages in the party’s manifesto, which is expected to be launched soon.

Addressing the media later, the Minority Leader in Parliament, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who was flanked by Mr Peter Mac Manu, the national campaign manager of the party, Miss Otiko Afisa Djaba, the national women's organiser, Mr Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee and a host of national and regional executive members, said the importance attached to the retreat by the party’s hierarchy had shown that the NPP was ready to contest the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in every area of governance.

He said “the war machine of the NDC was at play and it was up to you and I to fight against the hardships that Ghanaians are going through”.

According to him, the party in Parliament had sub-sector committees just like the larger party and therefore it was prudent for all stakeholders in the party to meet and synchronise all salient points in the manifesto in order to ensure uniformity.
