The Chairman of East Dadekotopon Development Trust (EDDT, Mr. Emmanuel Odoi Yemo, has issued a statement to condemn what he describes as a shameful act by a group within the Atta Tawiah Tsinaatse Family of La who are spreading falsehood within the media about the capacity of the Trust.
Chairman Odoi Yemo, during an interview over the weekend indicated that the attention of the Trust had been drawn to rumours and blatant lies being peddled by some people within the Tawiah Tsinaatse stables claiming to have a court judgment which incapacitates or disables the EDDT to function as Trustees of the La Dadekotopon Lands.
He said, the legitimacy of the EDDT to functions has been well established at the Appeals Court and subsequently at the Supreme Court and therefore the group spreading those rumours should be disregarded and treated with the contempt it deserves.
Mr. Odoi Yemo indicated that the right of the EDDT to function is still intact based on a Supreme Court judgment after an appeal filed by Edward Mensah Tawiah& 1 OR as Plaintiffs versus The AG. Chief Registrar of Lands and 1 OR as 1st Defendants and The Trustees – EDDT as 2nd Defendant.
He said, at the Appeals Court (Civil Division) in April 2015 Presided over by Justice Kusi Appiah and his compatriot Justices, Dordzie and Mensah, they stated clearly that the parties had earlier filed terms of settlement on 30/3/2015 and therefore “let the terms of settlement filed on 30/3/2015 be and is hereby adopted as consent judgment by the court. The appeal is accordingly struck out as settled”.
Again, Mr. Odoi Yemo stated that Presiding Judge Adinyra and his compatriot Justices Bonnie, Benin, Akamba and Appau sitting on an expert motion early this year 23rd February 2016, filed by Esther Kokoi Quaye& ORS who were seeking to quash the early judgment of the Appeals Court was also thrown out of court when the Supreme Court ruled emphatically that “we do not think the applicant’s remedy lies by way of certiorari. The application is therefore dismissed.”
The Chairman of the EDDT further opined that as long as the Supreme Court judgment stands, the Trust continues to carry on with its normal duties and cannot be distracted in their quest to serve their people.
