Aspiring MP Escapes Death

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate elect for Asunafo North constituency, Evans Opoku-Bobie has escaped an armed attack on him at night.

Some unknown men stormed his residence at Goaso in the Asunafo North District of the Brong Ahafo region around 1: 00 am Tuesday dawn where he was with his family.

The aspiring MP, who was not asleep at the time, rushed to another room and made a distress call to his neighbours and the police after the robbers managed to break the windows leading to his bedroom.

The armed men, after reportedly breaking the windows, did not take anything away even though there were valuable items such as mobile phones, money and laptops in the room.

The robbers, who had covered their faces with masks, fled when they heard the police arriving.

Mr. Opoku-Bobie in an interview with Adom News’s Kofi Adjei said he has no grudge with anyone in the town and therefore finds it hard to believe that someone would want to take his life.

“I have no problem with anyone in this town. I leave everything to God. I know some people want to eliminate me like the way they did to JB Danquah but I believe the plans of the devil will not come to pass” he said.

He has since reported the case to the Goaso Police Station who have begun investigations into the matter.

Earlier this month, the MP for Okere in the Eastern region who doubles as the Minority Chief Whip, Dan Kwaku Botwe was robbed at gunpoint by armed robbers at his Tema residence.

Former youth organizer of the NPP, Attafuah Danso who revealed this in an interview said the robbery, lasted for about 45 minutes.

According to him, Dan Botwe and members of his family were asleep when the robbers numbering about three broke his door and entered the room.

The robbers were led by the security man in the house as well the security man at the house opposite that of the MP.

He said the robbers took away undisclosed amounts of money, the MP's laptop and mobile phones as well his children’s laptop and mobile phones and some important documents.
