NDC Folks Arming NPP With Campaign Message?

Despite the several warnings by The aL-hAJJ to the National Democratic Congress that the opposition New Patriotic Party and its flag bearer will bank on scandals and claims of incompetence to unseat the Mahama administration in the upcoming polls; some functionaries remain adamant.

Some officials of the governing party are gleefully playing to the game plan of the biggest opposition party notwithstanding the consequences of their actions and inaction.

Whereas the NPP flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo and his men have been struggling to put together a catchy campaign message to counter the impressive achievements of President Mahama, but to no avail, these functionaries of the NDC government are inadvertently and freely arming their archrivals with campaign messages.

Ironically, these opposition-bound behaviors are normally exhibited by these NDC government officials and party bigwigs just when the Mahama government has chalked a monumental feat which needs to be celebrated to give the administration mileage over its opponents, going into the November polls.

The latest of such avoidable faux pas is Allotey Jacobs’ reckless interview following allegations of his arrest at Heathrow airport over drugs and money laundering.

The NDC central regional chairman’s embarrassing claim that his trip was sponsored by a US company and ‘insult’ to journalists and Ghanaians in general; was at a time President Mahama was commissioning the revamped Komenda Sugary Factory in his (Allotey’s) native region.
The New Komenda Sugary Factory which is creating about 10,000 direct and indirect jobs is also to help government streamline its management of the economy as the country’s import bill on sugar would be drastically reduced.

Another disturbing pronouncement during the week was by Local Government minister, Alhaji Collins Dauda on the happenings in Atebubu area over appointment of a DCE.

Reacting to threats by some angry NDC women to set the district assembly office ablaze if the new government appointee, Eric Osei is confirmed, Alhaji Dauda audaciously stated “Atebubu Amantin still remains one of the world banks of the party"

In an interview on Adom News following a mêlée surrounding the nomination of a new District Chief Executive for the area which is making the ruling party unpopular, Collings Dauda said they will follow the laid down procedure to confirm Mr. Eric Osei as the new DCE for Atebubu Amantin, and that “No one can stop us from doing the right thing; we will follow the rules to ensure the nominee is confirmed” he stressed.

The Local Government minister reaction didn’t go down well with many residence of Atebubu-Amanti. Some described the minister’s comments as “creeping arrogance of power”. And they promised to teach the NDC a lesson they won’t like to forget in the upcoming November polls,

President John Dramani Mahama on Monday inaugurated the new Komenda Sugar Factory to replace the now-defunct old one which was established by Dr Kwame Nkrumah in 1963 at Komenda in the Central Region.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the President explained that “for about 30 years now Ghana has been importing every single grain of sugar it uses. And this costs the nation some $200 million annually. The new Komenda Sugar Factory would not only change this but, will employ an estimated 7,300 people both directly and indirectly.”

Whilst many were expecting that this enviable achievement by the Mahama government will dominate discussions on media platforms across the country, Allotey’s official trip to the United States of America over a transaction between NPA and Authentix, a petroleum company in the US, has overshadowed it.

What has further heightened discussion of Mr Allotey Jacob’s trip was his revelation on Citi Fm that the travel expenses of his much talked about trip to the United States is being footed by Authentix.

Mr. Jacobs, who was earlier rumored to have been apprehended for money laundering in the UK, where he briefly transited over the weekend, has since made his way to the United States attending an event on behalf of the National Petroleum Authority of which he is a board member.

The NPP, who were alleged to have framed Mr Allotey Jacobs hoax arrest story to dilute the President’s commissioning of the Komenda Sugar Factory, has since shifted focus from the Central regional chairman’s supposed arrest and now holding onto details of his trip to the US he (Allotey) voluntarily provided.

Following this happenings, the NPP has not only succeeded in diluting the impact of the inauguration of the Sugar project but has also ended up shifting the media and Ghanaians attention on the project to pip into Mr Allotey Jacobs competence to have travelled to the US to represent NPA.
