Five persons have been reported dead and several others injured in an accident at Abepotia near Nkawkaw on the Accra – Kumasi road.
According to the police in the Eastern Region, the accident occurred on Saturday around 6:00 am. A 42 seater Neoplan bus traveling from Accra to Tamale, lost control after running over a speed table.
This cause the bus to veer off its lane into a ditch on the shoulder of the road resulting in the accident.
The dead and injured persons have been sent to the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital, Okonfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, and the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, in Accra.
The Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander, J.A Abass, confirmed the details of the accident to Citi News and said police have begun investigations into it.
He added that the driver of the bus also sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
