My Movement Is Not Against NDC, But . . . - Carl Wilson

Former Chairman of the Confiscated Vehicles Committee of the office of the President and NDC activist, Mr Carl Wilson is urging Ghanaians who are tired of the hardship of the Mahama administration to consider voting for an Independent Presidential Candidate to change the system of governance in the country.

According to him, the social democrat ideology which forms an integral part of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to address the needs of the poor and the under-privileged has changed under the current NDC-Mahama government.

Carl Wilson who was sacked by the late President Mills as Chairman of the Confiscated Vehicles Committee said his new political movement will champion the cause for this new type of governance system.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Mr Carl Wilson indicated that the NDC is no longer attractive as there is no hope for the youth of the country, aside hearing distasteful comment from Ghanaians about the hardship they have to endure under the Mahama government.

“Things are getting out of hands in the country and the youth must rise to decide the direction the country should go and we must stop the bad things going on in the country...I joined NDC because I believe in social democrats and at that time it was attractive but for now, I am not the one saying the NDC is not attractive anymore,” he lamented.

He stressed that “I don’t believe things are going on well for the youth; there are no jobs, cost of living is high and what we have to do as a social democrat to stop the blow for our people, are we doing them? Those are the questions to ask.”

“If you are convinced that we are doing those things, then continue with the status quo; join the NDC, but if you are convinced that things are not going on well in the country, then join us...when you go to the ballot box to vote, do it for any parliamentary candidate of your choice but vote for our independent Presidential Candidate,” he urged Ghanaian youth.

He buttressed his point that it is hard to believe and accept fuel price increment in the country at a time when the world price for fuel was on the decline; quizzing “which social democrat will do this to his people?”

To him, as there was a change of government in 2000 and 2008, there must certainly be a change in government in 2016 elections to pave way for an Independent Presidential Candidate.

He added that if the NDC will hate him for his decision, he welcomes it in good faith, reiterating that NDC has not offended him except that he wants to find solutions to the problems of Ghanaians which the NDC has not been able to address.

According to the leader of 'Move Ghana', a movement he formed and has spearheaded for about 2 and a half years now, he is not against the Mahama led government but is rather seeking for the betterment of Ghanaians.

"It is not a movement that is going against the NDC," he clarified in an interview with Kwesi Aboagye on Neat FM's 'Ghana Montie' programme.
