Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has sung the praises of the Campaign Manager of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Peter Mac Manu for admitting that it was his voice on a leaked tape recording that was roundly condemned recently.
Mr. Peter Mac Manu was captured on audio recording telling NPP faithfuls that the party will declare its own results the November 7 elections.
Addressing the NPP faithfuls at Takoradi in the Western Region, Mr. Mac Manu stressed emphatically that "in this election, the NPP will also declare our own results."
He has denied the reports saying his statements were misconstrued but however admits the audio recording to be his own voice.
Commenting on Mr. Mac Manu's confession, the Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper Kwesi Pratt acclaimed the NPP Campaign Manager on Radio Gold's "Alhaji and Alhaji" as a very honest man.
According to the seasoned journalist and socio-economic commentator, Mr. Mac Manu happens to be the first politician to have owned his voice on a leaked tape.
He alluded to incidents where some members of the NPP and other political actors in the country were caught on tape making "weird" remarks but they all denied the claims.
He recounted that it's either some would say their voices had been pieced together or doctored just to run away from claims associated with them on the tape recordings.
But for the first time, Mr. Pratt stated, there is a man whose honesty cannot be challenged.
“In the past, leaders of various political parties especially the New Patriotic Party were caught on tape saying all manner of things. All of them denied. It wasn’t them and so on. Here you have Mr. Peter Mac Manu saying that is my voice. I said it. For the first time and I think it is a significant development.
“At least, he’s an honest man. No, truly! He is an honest man and we’ve got to appreciate his honesty…This is an honest man, recognized it. He says that that is my voice. I said it. And then also what is significant is that he, himself, recognizes that what he said was not good enough. And that is why he has said that that is not what he meant. I hope that next time he says what he really means.”
Mr. Pratt however cautioned Mac Manu to desist from making further statements he termed as "unlawful".
