The Techiman Co-operative Yam Farming and Marketing Society Limited invested GHC 3,675.30 in various assests, representing 26.66 percent of their total assets of GHC 110,711,500.
The assets covered contributions to their market day-care center, clinic and store as well as construction of a school at Baamire in the municipality.
Mr. James Okyere, Municipal Co-operative officer, disclosed this at the annual general meeting of the society in Techiman.
He said the society generated GHC 18,344.63 as against GHC 10,441.37 between 2007-2009 fiscal years, representing 75.69 percent increase.
The society obtained a net surplus of GHC 5,562.57 as against GHC 725.01 for the 2007-2009 period, an increase of 667.24 percent.
He lauded the mechanism put in place by the executives to reduce the overhead expenses as against the previous administration where much money was being spent on litigations.
The Municipal Co-operative Officer called on members of the association to form groups to access loans to expand their businesses.
Mr. Okyere appealed to the society to adhere to the code of ethics governing the establishment of the society and to periodically render yearly accounts to members.
Nana Fosu Gyeabour II, Chief of Nkonakwagya in the Tain traditional area and market manager,urged the society to support the municipal assembly to develop the central market by paying their daily tax.
He urged them to bury their differences and to regard the society as a venture that would help improve their standard of living.
Nana Afia Kyeremeh, Techiman Central market Queen mother, called for dialogue and understanding among members to move the society forward.
Mr. Rockson Addai, Brong-Ahafo Regional President of the Association asked members to attend meetings regularly to help address their problems.
Nana Fosu Gyeabour, Mawerehene and Koasehene of Techiman, who presided, advised members of the society and the executives to enrol their children in school since education formed the bedrock of national development.
He urged the executives to complete the school project at Baamire to praticalise their support for the educational reforms programme.
