Spokesperson of local NUGS president, Hamza S. Suhuyimi, is calling for the immediate release of some former executives detained by the CID, under the orders of the New Executives of the Union over the assets of NUGS. He has also issued a 48 hour ultimatum to the former executives to hand over all documents and assets to the 2009/2010 administration or face the full brunt of the union�s regulations. �We bemoan the bitter relationship between some former executives and the current NUGS Executives to the extent of detaining some former executives ( Patrick Ayittah, former Coordinating Sec. and Ahmed Bening, former Education and Democratization Sec.) by the CID under the orders of our New Executives over the assets of NUGS�For peace and tranquility to prevail, we advice per Article 85 Clause �a� a 48 hour ultimatum to the former executives to hand over all documents and asserts to the 2009/2010 administration or face the full brunt of Clause �b� of same Article,� he cautioned. NUGS has also put forward the names of its new executives who were sworn into office on Monday, 7th September, 2009. Below is the full statement issued by the Local NUGS President. LOCAL NUGS PRESIDENTS PRESS RELEASE ON THE CURRENT IMPASSE OF NUGS The Local NUGS Presidents of the various institutions have resolved to salvage the Union by issuing a statement on the myriad of issues bedeviling the union including the current impasse our union is saddled with. It is an incontrovertible fact that, election climaxed the 43rd Annual Delegates Congress at UEW-Kumasi Campus on the 20th of August, 2009. Any reservations, violations of the NUGS Constitution, and electioneering mishap ought to have been or must have been channeled through the Judicial Committee per Article 76 of the NUGS Constitution. The Electoral Commission formed by the Last Central Committee (CC) before Congress per Article 51 of our Constitution has the Commissioner as the Chief spokesperson of the Commission and represents the union on all platforms on elections according to Article 53 Clause �c�. Any act to remove her from office after the dissolution of Congress is inconsistent per Article 51 Clause �c�. It is prudent to note that the Chapter Six of the NUGS Constitution states explicitly under the different Articles and Clauses that all committees stand dissolve upon dissolution of Congress. The purported vote of no confidence held by some purported National Executive Committee (NEC) a day after the official handing over and induction ceremony was constitutionally flawed since they don�t have the jurisdiction to do so per Article 31. Mr. Ishmeal Tweneboa Kodua, the former NUGS President therefore went to the Handing over fully and constitutionally as the President then and also the Chief spokesperson of the Union per Article 40 Clause �a�. In line with the above, the handing over and induction ceremony of NUGS held on Monday, 7th September, 2009 was legitimate and in the spirit and letter of the NUGS Constitution. On behalf of our institutions and colleagues absent obviously due to proximity we officially and formally introduce and present our new NUGS EXECUTIVES after the 43rd Annual Delegates Congress held at UEW-Kumasi Campus from 16th to 20th August, 2009 and subsequently sworn into office on Monday, 7th September, 2009. Secretary We call on the Students of Ghana, the government of Ghana, the media, Companies, NGOs, all Cooperate Organizations and various stakeholders to work with the above NUGS Executives only, for the next NUGS year (2009/2010). Any individual, student, government official, media house, Company, Cooperate Organization, NGO or Stakeholder who deals with any other persona aside the names above as a NUGS Executive does so at his or her own peril. Any person or group of persons, former executive(s) holding himself/themselves as an executive or executives with specific reference the former General Secretary Mr. Billy Jones must as a matter of urgency refrain from this illegitimacy and unconstitutionality. We also condemn the hypocritical role of the self acclaimed Deputy Secretary General of the All Africans Students Union during the conference among member countries in Ghana on the centenary celebration of Dr. Nkrumah where he endorsed an illegality by introducing Billy Jones as the Ag. NUGS President. We bemoan the bitter relationship between some former executives and the current NUGS Executives to the extent of detaining some former executives ( Patrick Ayittah, former Coordinating Sec. and Ahmed Bening, former Education and Democratization Sec.) by the CID under the orders of our New Executives over the assets of NUGS. This is an unfortunate development and we call for the immediate release of the above former executives if they are still in custody and an immediate withdrawal of the case from the police station to be addressed within the union. We are also by this statement calling on the aggrieved former executives to seek redress in court if they are not satisfied with the electoral and transitional processes, and we can assure them of our unflinching support. For peace and tranquility to prevail, we advice per Article 85 Clause �a� a 48 hour ultimatum to the former executives to hand over all documents and asserts to the 2009/2010 administration or face the full brunt of Clause �b� of same Article. Furthermore, we wish to state that the purported central committee meeting to be held by the aggrieved former executives is an illegality. The local NUGS President of KNUST under our orders has therefore notified the authorities of the university to that effect. We admire the courage of the aggrieved former executives but we once again appeal to their good conscience to seek redress if they are so confident of their concerns. We wish to state unequivocally, that we shall not allow any person or group of persons to hold the union to ransom. We condemn ragingly all attempts to drag the name of the union to disrepute.
