Minister Afotey Agbo Narrowly Escapes Police Arrest

Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Largyea Afotey Agbo, narrowly escaped Police arrest, Monday, when he rushed to the High Court (General Jurisdiction Five) to avoid the enforcement of a bench warrant that had been issued by the Presiding Judge, Naa Adoley Azu.

Afotey Agbo had rushed to the court following calls to him by his lawyers about the possible arrest if he fails to honour the invite.

The court had issued the bench warrant for the arrest of the Minister after he consistently failed to show up in a contempt case brought against him.

At today’s hearing, the Minister failed to turn up once again, triggering an apology from the State Attorney on his behalf.

The State Attorney, the Minister’s absence was as a result of the Indian President’s visit to country.

But the Presiding Judge, Naa Adoley Azu, was not convinced and therefore stood down the case for sometime until the State Attorney produces the Minister.

In less than an hour, the Minister was seen rushing to court to avoid any possible arrest.

The case has been adjourned to July 5, 2016.
