Hotels in Ho fully booked for Teachers Day on Monday

Hotels in Ho are fully booked ahead of the 2009 Best Teachers Awards scheduled for the municipality on Monday October 5, Togbe Dzidoah, Volta Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES) told the GNA on Friday. The event, which is the 15th edition, is under the theme Build the Future: Invest in Teachers. The virtual scuttle by stakeholders to get the grounds ready for the event and put finishing touches to preparations was evident when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the offices of the Ghana Education Service (GES), the main host and the Public Works Department (PWD), which is putting the Jubilee Park, venue for the event in shape. Togbe Dzidoah said some staff on leave had been recalled to boost efforts to host the event successfully. He said the Planning Committee, of which he is a member, had mobilized all relevant stakeholders, including Zoomlion sanitation workers towards the Day. When the GNA went round early Friday morning, work was going on at the Jubilee Park, the event grounds, with students clearing weeds as artisans did the structural works. Togbe Dzidoah said 92 prizes in 12 categories were on offer, while 30 awards for some retired workers in the sector would also be given. Criteria for determining winners, as listed by Mr Gabriel Kploanyi, Volta Regional Director of the GES when he addressed the Volta Regional Best Teachers Awards Day two weeks earlier include, clear lesson objectives, planning and organization of lessons, preparation and use of instructional materials, competent delivery and significant impact on the community where school is located.
