Rev Opuni-Frimpong And Christian Council Are NPP Moles In Cassock - Koku Anyidoho

Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has bombarded the General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG), Rev Dr Opuni-Frimpong and the Christian Council on its communiqué calling on the EC to implement Supreme Court ruling.

The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) and the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) have called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to, as a matter of urgency, implement the Supreme Court ruling regarding the fate of persons who registered with National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards and thereby clean the register.

According to the two bodies, the divergent views on the interpretation of the ruling had the potential of throwing the entire election timetable into disarray.

In a communiqué signed by Apostle Dr Opoku Onyina, the Chairman of the GPCC, and Rev Dr. Ernest Adu Gyamfi, the Chairman of the CCG, at the end of a joint meeting between the two bodies in Accra, they said they had observed keenly issues relating to the EC and they were deeply worried about what seemed to be entrenched positions often taken by some political parties against some decisions of the EC.

Buttressing the point of the two religious bodies, Rev Dr. Opuni-Frimpong on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show insisted Ghanaians are expecting the Electoral Commission (EC) which has the mandate to implement the Supreme Court ruling to speed up to calm the anxiety in the country as there is no direction at sight to the issue with the voter’s register.

“We don’t understand the ruling of the Supreme Court and that is why we are calling on the EC to act on the ruling so that it will end the different interpretations given by the two political parties”, Rev Opuni-Frimpong stressed.

But the Deputy Chief Scribe of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho on the same platform went haywire, castigating the General Secretary of CCG, describing him to be doing the biding of a particular political party.

Koku chided that Rev Dr Opuni-Frimpng should remove his cassock to join the NPP as he [Rev] has always been supporting the largest opposition in its quest for a fresh voter’s register for the 2016 general elections.

He posited that the position of Rev Dr Opuni-Frimpong on the Supreme Court ruling cannot be the position of the entire Christian Council of Ghana (CCG), asserting that other members on the Christian Council do not share the same opinion.

“Opuni-Frimpong and the Christian Council should bow down their heads in shame for this communiqué. We are aware of what is going on at the Christian Council and some of us are not surprised to hear this from him”, he chided.

He however called on Rev Dr Opuni-Frimpong to direct his attention to the reckless and warmongering statement from the NPP’s Campaign Manager, Peter Mac Manu for deciding to declare their results ahead of the EC; thus, it is only when he consider him to be fair and non-partisan.
