Youth Group Chase Minister Over Criminals Comment

An aggrieved youth group in Odododiodoo Constituency, in the Greater Accra Region, has chastised their Member of Parliament, Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, for branding the old Fadama area as a place for breeding criminals and is demanding an unqualified apology from him or faces their wrath.

President of the Odododiodoo Youth for Accountability (OYA) of Old Fadama Chapter, Malu Samuel Lasiem, addressing the press at Agblobloshie, debunked the statement by their MP, who is also the Minister of Sports and said the Minister refused to acknowledged the fact that the Old Fadama community had provided the country with two honorable members of parliament, in the persons of Hon. John Oti Bless and Hon John Binan Jacab.

Again, "We are not happy with our MP’s unguided comment when he was addressing Afri - one Youth event in Accra, describing the old Fadama community as a place of festering criminals”.

“We the Odododiodoo Youth for Accountability old Fadama chapter deem it necessary to put the honorable member right that one, old Fadama is not a ground for breeding criminals as he put in his speech. We are recounting these because a comment made that paint the community black denies the graduate job opportunities hence, we are marginalized in the job market by the being perceived as criminals" he hinted.

The OYA group therefore urged the honorable member to come out and apologize to the constituency for such comment as soon as possible; else he should not dream of coming to the community to canvass votes because the Mahama-led administration has neglected them.
