President Mahamas Only Arsenal Is Insults Not Ideas- Group

The National Democratic Congress has been conspicuously loyal in fulfilling their promise of not participating in this year’s Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) Presidential Debate.

The party in statement issued by their General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, disclosed that they have decided not to participate in any debate to be organized by the IEA, as far as it is related to the 2016 general elections”.

If the party intended to save President Mahama from any backlash by adopting this strategy, then Wecem, a political advocacy group isn’t ready to settle for this type of peace.

Leader of the group Aminu Cobber in an interview with Peacefmonline.com was overwhelmed at the NDC’s decision to boycott the IEA, a platform he believes would also give President Mahama the opportunity to tell Ghanaians what he would do differently from other party flagbearers.

Wecem, Mr. Aminu Cobber said, had conducted their research and found out that President Mahama penchant of using “derogatory” remarks during any discourse is the main reason the NDC is shielding him from the public.

“The only arsenal the NDC’s flagbearer has when engaged in debates is insults and not innovative ideas”, the Wecem head said.

He added that if there was anything the president has achieved a lot in under his tenure, it would have to do with “the unaccountable times he has insulted members of the New Patriotic Party for disagreeing with him.”

“The NDC is trying to gag him from using insults on national television and the only way they can do that is to say they would not engage the IEA. They don’t want to be disgraced like the other time and this has informed their decision”, he said.

Mr. Aminu Cobber also revealed that he has had a chance to review the debate which was organized by last four years. He adds that he had reviewed the entire tape and could establish that President Mahama only participated in the debate to “tell lies and is scared to return on the same platform to repeat the same lies again”.
