PPP Jabs Akufo-Addo Over 1 District 1 Factory Promise

Presidential hopeful of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom  has expressed  doubt about the many  promises  being made by both the flag-bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwah  Akufo-Addo  and President John Dramani Mahama of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Nana Akufo-Addo is promising a factory in every district. John Dramani Mahama is promising millions of jobs. It can only mean one thing – we are approaching another election. So they are at it again, making promises they cannot keep”, Dr Nduom said.

In a statement signed by Dr. Nduom and issued to the media yesterday in Accra, the astute politician wondered why Nana Akufo-Addo and President Mahama have not learnt from their mistakes in the past.

“You would think they would have learnt from the mistakes of the past. But no, they believe in promising what they believe the people want to hear. So they can win votes. Are Ghanaians not wiser than some politicians take them to be? Do our people not know the saying about “Kwatrekwa” which literally means “nothing”, Dr. Nduom who is also a renowned entrepreneur asked?

He was also surprised that, the basic fundamental problems facing the country which  make it ungovernable have been neglected.

For instance, Dr.  Nduom asked of what has become of the   compulsory education, election of Municipal, Metropolitan and District Chiefs Executives (MMDCEs), independent prosecutor’s office to fight corruption, separating the job of Member of Parliament (MP)   from that of Minister of State, strengthening the National Identification Authority (NIA) to work, etc.

According to him, these can be done at ease.

“And these the PPP puts in front of everything else. Build a sound foundation, build good infrastructure, then facilitate investment in the private sector, encourage our private sector with strong purchasing power from the state” he indicated

“If it is building factories that work well and jobs that last, then I respectfully ask Ghanaians to look to the one called “Edwumawura”, Papa Kwesi Nduom, the statement concluded.
