Rot At KATHPatients Bedsheets On Sale @ Gh15.00

Patients at the referral and teaching hospital in the Ashanti Region, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital are complaining bitterly about the way and manner some hospital authorities are selling a polyester material to them as bed sheet at a cost of GHC 15.00 whilst they pay accommodation fee while on admission.

The hospital bill of a patient in possession of this paper pegs accommodation at GHC 900.00 excluding the cost of the bed sheet.

Failure to buy the bed sheet would mean that the patient would sleep on the bare mattress unless one is brought from home. Accident victims have suffered the most as they are rushed to the hospital unprepared.

Interestingly, the bed sheets bear the official stamp of KATH.

Some nurses told this paper that the bed sheets are meant to be given to patients without any charge and so it was a worry that the hospital administration had decided to milk patients.

“We get these bed sheets every year and they are for free so I do not see why they should be sold to patients. It has never been the practice until recently,” a worried Nurse told The New Crusading GUIDE.

What makes the transaction more suspicious is that they are not displayed in the open as they are hidden in black polythene bags and kept under hospital chairs

Although the Public Relations Officer of KATH, Kwame Frimpong confirmed the sale of the bed sheets, he said he could not explain why they were being sold to patients.

Please stay tuned.
