The Kumasi Central Market, which is currently under reconstruction, will be the best market in Africa if completed, Dr Edward Omane Boamah has said.

The first phase of the construction is underway in the Ashanti regional capital. President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday June 28 inspected the ongoing project as part of his Accounting to the People tour.

Speaking on Asempa FM Tuesday June 28, Dr. Omane Boamah said when completed the market “will be the best market in Africa”, an indication that President Mahama is committed to developing the country. He hinted that Cabinet had approved facilities for the second phase of the reconstruction of the market.

Dr Omane Boamah expressed optimism that President Mahama would be retained as leader of the country given the massive development projects President John Dramani Mahama has undertaken since he became president of Ghana.

President Mahama is expected to visit the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to hold talks with him on Wednesday June 29.
