NPP Should Rather Open Dog Meat Factories In Eastern Region, Navrongo and Bolgatanga - Ametor Quaryme

A communications team member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has scoffed at the promise by New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo to build one factory in every district.

According to Eric Ametor Quaryme, the promise is just a panic reaction just to win cheap political points ahead of the December elections. With at least four months to the general elections, Nana Akufo-Addo on the campaign trail promised to build one factory in each of the 216 districts.

He vowed to make industrialization the cornerstone of his policy of economic transformation.

But Ametor Quaryme on Asempa FM Tuesday opined that, the promise is just political gimmick.

He indicated that the NPP cannot be trusted to establish factories in all district because a similar project under the erstwhile Kufuor administration did not survive. “What happened to the presidential special initiative on textile, cassava and oil palm under the Kufuor government? We know these people so Ghanaians must be careful when their leader makes any promise” he stated.

Rather, Mr. Ametor Quaryme suggested that the establishment of dog meat factories at Kyebi in the Eastern region, Navrongo and Bolgatanga in the Upper East region will be more viable if the NPP is serious to create jobs. He explained that, dog meat in these towns is a delicacy thus there will be a ready market after it has been processed.

Ametor Quaryme called on Ghanaians to threat the plethora of promises being made by Nana Akufo-Addo with the contempt it deserves and support President John Mahama to deliver a Better Ghana.

In a rebuttal, Director of Communications of the NPP, Nana Akomea pooh poohed Ametor Quaryme's claims noting that, the promise to build the factories will be possible if Nana Akufo-Addo wins power.

He said there is research to show the different natural resources of every district. The factories will be set up based on the resource allocation of each district. The NPP man indicated that, details of the economic plan including costing will come out soon, he said but stressed the one-district, one-factory goal is achievable.

Nana Akomea said even if an NPP government is able to cover half of the 216 districts with factories, it would still be a massive step to transform the country's economy.
