REVEALED: EC Submits 30,435 Full Lists Of NHIS Registrants Today Ben Ephson

The Electoral Commission(EC) is submitting a total lists of 30,435 NHIS registrants to the Supreme court today ahead of the formal hearing of Abu Ramadan’s case tomorrow, Pollster Ben Ephson released the figure on Kasapa FM Wednesday.

The EC is supposed to meet a 6-day ultimatum which expires today by the apex court asking the Election Management Body to produce the list of persons whose names were captured onto the voters’ register using the NHIS card as proof of Ghanaian citizenship.

The court after sitting Thursday June 23, ordered the Commission to furnish it within six days a written detail of steps and modalities it will adopt in cleaning the names of NHIS entrants on the primary document and the re-registration of the same people who would be affected.

The order by the Supreme Court follows the application of a review filed by Abu Ramadan and Frank Nimako seeking clarification of the May 5 judgment by the apex Court on the persons who used the NHIS Card to register in the 2012 general elections.

Ghana’s renowned pollster interacting with host Fiifi Banson said a document he’s privy to shows the EMB will make available a list of 30,435 comprising of eight regions. He said he’s yet to obtain figures for Brong Ahafo and Greater Accra regions.

“This is being backed by form 1A and they will in addition add form 1C,” Ephson added.

The figure contradicts what the opposition New Patriotic Party is contending about the NHIS registrants on the voter roll. The NPP and its allied opposition group, Let My Vote Count Alliance(LMVCA) is quoting some 4,000,000 NHIS card users on the voters’ register.
