Quality Education Should Be Holistic - Educationist

Mr Joseph Onyina, former Ashanti Regional Director of Education, has underscored the need to gear education at the holistic development of the child, to ensure quality.

He pointed out that, quality education was more than getting children to have best grades in their examinations.

“Quality education is helping to nurture the innate potentials in every child so as to bring out the best in them to enable them become mature, responsible and useful wherever they found themselves in future life”, he added.

Mr Onyina was addressing the 10th graduation of the Marist Preparatory and Junior High School, at Sabin-Akrofuom, near Kumasi.

He said the purpose of any good education was to train the head, heart and the hand, pointing out that, every quality education made a person knowledgeable, intelligent, creative and wise.

Mr Onyina stressed the need for both parents and teachers to instill high moral discipline in their children which would complement the acquisition of good education to make them could grow into responsible citizens in the country.

Nana Osei Yaw Akoto, Krontihene of Sabin-Akrofuom, urged school children to take their studies seriously and humble themselves in order to receive support from their parents and teachers.

Brother John Kusi Mensah, Headmaster of the school, said as a Catholic educational institution, the school offered holistic development of the children and prepared them to be disciplined, honest and creative thinkers.

He praised the parents of the school for their continued support to the growth and development of the school.
