Ken's EC Madam's 'Sex For Position' Remarks Must Not Be Rationalized - Baako

“He is an MP and has an added responsibility to ensure that his speech is measured. His comments should rather unite than divide...Everyone has their democratic right to challenge the EC but to make it about her person is wrong. His comments should in no way be rationalized.”

Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr made the above comment in reaction to a verbal attack on Madam Charlotte Osei's personality by Kennedy Agyepong.

Speaking on a campaign platform at Asokwa in Kumasi, the Assin Central Member of Parliament claimed the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) got her job in exchange for sexual favours. Mr. Agyapong alleged some highly placed government officials told Mrs Osei to “bring your buttocks in exchange for the EC Chair position.

He again repeated the allegation on his Accra based OMAN FM on Tuesday.

This comment has been highly condemned with a section of the public demanding that the MP issue a public apology to the EC chair.

Speaking to the issue during a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Kweku Baako said as an MP, Ken Agyepong must learn how to speak with some level of decorum.

“I have had difficulties with how the EC has gone about certain issues and I have been clear in my mind that relative to issues concerning the elections and the EC’s conduct before she took over and during her tenure – even though short – I have had difficulties with it...Diverting the issue to politics of insult when indeed we should be looking at the integrity of the EC and its actions, doesn’t matter who is in charge or who the members are...He is not going to be a singular loser in any public assessment of the issue. It has a collateral effect on the party he belongs to,” he said.
