Chairman Wontumi On Why NDC Attacked Prez Mahama's Convoy

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused elements of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of being behind the purported attack on President Mahama’s convoy in the Ashanti region.

According to Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, President John Mahama and his NDC government have shown in their 7 years of being in office that they have no solutions to the crises they have plunged Ghana into which to him has seen his own people (NDC) turn against him.

“How can the NDC blame us for the attack on President’s convoy? I can tell you on authority that those people involved in the attack were Mahama’s own people because they are tired of the suffering Mahama has subjected them to” he said Accra based Okay FM Thursday.

President John Mahama is in the region as part of his Accounting to the People Tour.

A section of the convoy was reportedly attacked Tuesday night at Essieninpong after the President had commissioned a centre for Renewable Energy and Entrepreneurship Village for the Kumasi Polytechnic.

Two residents have so far been arrested for reportedly pelting the convoy of President John Mahama with stones and water.

Chairman Wontumi believes that Ghana’s problems stem from the fact that President Mahama and the NDC government have nothing good to offer Ghanaians.

However, Chairman Wontumi assured Ghanaians that all hope is not lost, stating that if Ghanaians are able to work hard and ensure that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo becomes President of Ghana, the country will have a brighter future.
