Uphold Peace In Society- MCE

Alhaji Antieye Essa Tetteh, the District Chief Executive for Kpone-Katamanso, has urged residents of the district to uphold peace as a virtue and promote cordiality among all people.

These, he said were prerequisite for development and that there was need to preserve the peace prevailing in the district.

The MCE was addressing a reception for senior citizens of the district to commemorate the 56th Republic Day anniversary in Kpone.

The ceremony which brought together retired public and civil servants, heads of departments and security agencies, was characterised by emotions of great happiness as some selected senior citizens were presented with souvenirs in appreciation of their contribution to the development of the district.

Alhaji Essa Tetteh, indicated that the heroic struggles of Ghanaian forebears prior to the country becoming a republic, should be emulated by the youth as they renewed their commitment to national development.

Ghana's unity and strength in diversity, he said, had brought the country thus far and shot the country onto the path of progress.

According to him, Republic Day has not just become a day of introspection, but a day to reflect on the challenges and opportunities of the district and the country as a whole.

He added that over the period, the Ghanaian value system had changed as a result of westernisation and modernisation, calling on the youth to be more respectful to the elderly as custom demands.

"We owe our children the duty of mentorship and imbibe in them the virtues of peace and love for peaceful coexistence", he emphasised.
