Dr. Joyce Aryee, the Former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, has called on political leaders to positively impact their followers.

Dr. Joyce Aryee advised politicians to ensure that peace prevails in the country.

She noted that it is prudent for the nation to uphold the tenets of unity and justice so as to sustain the economy.

Dr. Aryee, who is also a Board Chairperson for Global Media Alliance, owners of television station E.TV and organizers of the annual Ghana's Most Influential Personality Awards; admonished the political characters not to go on rampage as the country is in a volatile situation.

Addressing a gathering at the 6th edition of the Ghana's Most Influential (GMI) Personality Award held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel last Thursday, Dr. Aryee stressed that "political leaders should positively influence their followers to uphold the relative peace we enjoy in this country . . . When we talk peace, we want the kind of peace that is based on justice and freedom; on the opportunities of people to get the best of what the country can offer. That is what brings peace.”

Also speaking at the event was the two-time winner of the GMI personality awards, Dr. Mensa Otabil.

He also urged private individuals to take control of the State and not leave the fate the country in the hands of politicians.

He held strongly that the development of the economy should not be the sole responsibility of politicians.

The 6th edition of the GMI was held to honour men and women who have made a positive impact on the citizenry and the nation at large.

Among the list of GMI awardees were ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Father Palmer Buckle, Bernard Avle, Abraham Attah, Kwesi Twum, Albert Ocran, Patrick Awuah and Stephen Appiah among others.
