A relieved Ghana Black Satellites coach, Sellas Tetteh reckoned that his changes had a big escape in their cagy FIFA U-20 World Cup knockout game with South Africa.
He admitted that lots of work must be done on the lapses in his team before the quarter-final encounter with Korea Republic on Friday.
Ghana relied on an extra time first half goal to turn round the game that the Amajitas had wrapped around their finger for most part of the game when Dominic Adiyiah stroke on the turn to give Ghana a lead that was protected with zest.
Coach Tetteh told GNA Sports that after the game �it was a very difficult game, but we managed to take control in the second half and we are delighted we were able to overcome our lapses.
�A lot of work will be done between now and the next game to overcome our lapses.�
Coach Tetteh said his team started slowly in the torrid game which the African Champions held on to set up a date with Korea Republic in quarter-finals in Suez on Friday.
The coach said he expected the strength of the competition to become stronger in the quality of opposition but insisted that his team�s determination separated the side from the South Africans, claiming that the Satellites had shown enough potency as the competition progressed.
The Black Satellites went scrappy but lucky to snatch an extra time goal and victory from the jaws of Amajitas of South Africa in a 2-1 dicey knockout game played at the Ismailia Stadium, to earn a place in the round of eight at the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt.
