Talk Everybody Out Of Violence - Minister

Mr. John Alexander Ackon, the Ashanti Regional Minister has urged Chief Imams and all Muslim leaders to do more to talk the youth out of intolerance and violence.

They should aid them to live within the law and work together to keep the nation united and peaceful.

Mr. Ackon was speaking when he joined hundreds of the Muslims at the Central Mosque in Akwatialine, Kumasi, to celebrate the Eid-al-Fitr.

The festival is held globally to mark the end the Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.

Mr. Ackon used the occasion to remind all about the need to conduct themselves well to make this year’s election peaceful.
“We already have the election experience we can build on and a peaceful process is what we all crave for.”

He appealed to the people to continue to live in peace and harmony and avoid doing anything to undermine law and order in the region.

He said he was confident that the sacrifice and self-denial made by the Muslims during the period had helped them not only to renew their faith but cleansed their souls.

Sheikh Abdul Moumin Harun, the Regional Chief Imam, urged all followers of Islam to show compassion for the weak, the vulnerable and the socially disadvantaged.

Again, they should distance themselves from anything evil and accept to make sacrifices and work to bring progress to the society.

He thanked Allah for his guidance and protection throughout the Ramadan.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, in an address read for him advised the Muslims to comport themselves and find space to contribute to the socio-economic progress of the region.

He also asked the youth to refuse to be part of any devious agenda to foment trouble before, during and after the presidential and parliamentary elections.
