Many Ghanaians Seeking Health Care Than Before

Mr Sebastian Alagpulinsa, Upper East Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), has noted that with the introduction of the Scheme many Ghanaians now seek health care than before.

The Regional Director said this during NHIS Brilliant Inter-Schools Quiz Competition organised by the Scheme for some second cycle institutions in the Region.

Mr Alagpulinsa said many Ghanaians are seeking health care than before; early diagnoses of diseases have been made possible as a result of the Scheme’s contribution to healthcare due to reduction in cost

He explained that the Quiz Competition, which was broadcasted life by the GBC/ URA Radio, was to provide clients and stakeholders with the requisite information about the NHIS to empower them to enjoy their rights.

He stated that despite the communication strategies embarked upon by the National Insurance Authority aimed at awareness creation of the Scheme, majority of Ghanaians are still not aware of the benefits of the NHIS.

The Scheme, he noted, would also conduct regular stakeholder engagements to enhance clients, service providers and the public participation in its programmes to make the NHIS more efficient.

The Quiz Competition focused on the operation of the Scheme, how to access the Scheme, the provisions of the Scheme, the role of service providers, new policies and programmes of the scheme among others.

The Bolgatanga Senior High School became first, followed by the Navrongo Senior High School and the third; Zamse Senior High Technical School, and the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School fourth.

The first school would represent the Northern Zone for the competition scheduled to be conducted in the Brong/Ahafo Region this month.
