Register Your Lands Chief Advises Estate Developers

Chief of Abehenase near Amasaman in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, Oblempong Nii Kotey Susubribi Onyaa I, has directed all land owners, developers and landlords in the area to register their documents with the stool or risk having their lease documents terminated under his administration.

The newly installed chief who has been admitted into the Asere Divisional Stool under the Ga Traditional Council directed that all land owners and developers must regularise their documents by August 30, 2016 or “their documents would be blocked from going through at the Lands Commission and their building permits revoked.”

According to him, he had directed members of his Asafoaste team known in the local parlance as “warlords” to drum to the hearing of all land owners and landlords in the area to come and negotiate with the stool before the announced date or risk losing their properties.

The directives, Oblempong Nii Onyaa I said, apply to all occupiers on the lands of the stool including COCOBOD, National Investment Bank (NIB), Ghana Private Roads Transport Union of the Ghana Trades Union Congress as well as management of Ghana Telecommunication Company Limited, now Vodafone.

The chief issued the warning when he interacted with Today after his induction into the Asere Divisional stool in Kaneshie, a suburb of Accra.

He advised all land owners to opt for peace by regularising their documents with the traditional stool.

He however, corrected the impression that his administration was out there to victimise certain individuals who were frontliners in the administration of his predecessor.

According to him, this was just a mere formality for the stool to identify with settlers on the lands.
