The Upper East Regional Executive members of the Convention People's Party (CPP) have called on the General-Secretary of the party Nii Amarh Akomfra, and the National Youth Organiser, Mr Ernesto Yeboah, to accept their suspension for the sake of party unity. 

They said the two executive members must also take note that chastising the flagbearer and other national leaders of the party affected the regional, constituency and polling station executives  of the party, including the party’s parliamentary candidates. 

This was contained in a statement signed by the Regional Chairman of the CPP, Alhaji Baba Ibrahim and five other executive members of the party in Bolgatanga last Sunday.

Face Disciplinary Committee

The five other executive members are Hajia Zalia Ibrahim, the Regional Women Organiser; Messrs William Abayik, Regional Treasurer; Yusif Anabia, Regional Youth Organiser; Musah Ayumah, Education Secretary and Mr Christopher Akulga, Second Vice Chairman.

According to the regional executive members, "the two suspended national executive members must face the disciplinary committee and it is important for them to note that suspension does not mean one has been expelled from the party."

The statement noted that, "One could be exonerated if one has a good case to make about his or her action or inaction before the disciplinary committee."

"We the leadership of the CPP in the Upper East Region, therefore, stand by the flag bearer and the chairman and the leader of our great party and are therefore prevailing upon the two suspended national executive members of the CPP to view the party as supreme [and] above  their parochial interest,  particularly at this  crucial period when the party is gaining more grounds to win the 2016 general election,"it stressed.

Unfortunate comments   

The statement further described "as unfortunate comments by the two national executives criticising the flag bearer of the party, Mr Ivor Greenstreet,  for not consulting the party’s  hierarchy  before  making comments about  the Ford Gift Saga’ involving President John Dramani Mahama."
