Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has lost track of happenings within the country with his analysis that neighbouring Cote d’Ivoire is able to attract foreign investors into the country because the former’s economy is doing better than that of Ghana, Malam Ali Yusuf Issa, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said.
Nana Addo, while speaking at the inauguration of the South African branch of the NPP recently, said: “President Ouattara’s leadership has been such that Cote d’Ivoire has been growing at 8-9 per cent over the last five years; while we have been going like this (declining), they are going like that (experiencing a boom).”
He, therefore, called on Ghanaians to vote out President Mahama in this year’s polls, saying: “We cannot continue like this because we have both the human resource and the material resources to do so much better for our country than what is going on now.”
But speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM Thursday July 14, Mr Issa, who once served as Minister of Youth and Sports in the Kufour administration, said: “Akufo Addo has lost track of what is going on in the country. The last time he was talking of Nigeria, the other time he was talking of Ivory Coast; yesterday he talked about Malaysia.
“When he compared Ghana to Nigeria, some renowned economists discounted his analysis and then he quickly jumped to Ivory Coast. When he was told that Ghana’s GDP was better than Ivory Coast’s, therefore his comparison was flawed, he jumped to Malaysia. So, he doesn’t understand what is going on in the country. That is how I look at it, Nana Akufo-Addo doesn’t know what is going on because he keeps getting his analyses wrong,” the former member of the People's National Convention (PNC) added.
