Stop The Dirty Tribal Politics Against Bawumia NPP To Prez Mahama

A group calling itself the Coalition of Mamprugu Constituency Executives of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), have cautioned President John Dramani Mahama to desist from campaigning on tribal lines against the party’s running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

This follows comments made by President Mahama on Tuesday, when he urged chiefs and people of the Mamprugu land in the Northern Region to ignore Dr. Bawumia, who hails from the area, and massively vote for him at the 2016 polls.

A statement signed by Simon Ali, NPP Walewale Constituency Secretary, on behalf of his colleagues said the people of Mamprugu are well informed people hence will not vote on tribal lines.

“The coalition wishes to state that, the people of Mamprugu are descending and well-informed people, who do not vote on tribal lines but on achievements of governments, policies and programmes of political parties,” he added.

Hajia Alima blasts Mahama over tribal politics

The opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Gambaga/Nalerigu Constituency in the Northern Region, Hajia Alima Mahama, has also slammed President Mahama following his call on Mamprusis to ignore the NPP’s running mate, Dr. Mahamoud Bawumia, and vote for him at the 2016 polls.

Below is the full statement:

STOP THE DIRTY TRIBAL POLITICS AGAINST BAWUMIA

The Coaliation of Mamprugu Constituency Executives of the New Patriotic Party’s attention has been drawn to a dirty tribal political comment made by HE John Mahama during his recent so called accounting to the people tour of Mamprugu where is quoted by citifmonline.com calling on the people of Mamprugu to ‘ ignore Bawumia and vote for me’.

The coalition wishes to state that, the people of Mamprugu are descending and well informed people who do not vote on tribal lines but on achievements of governments, policies and programmes of political parties.

The people of Mamprugu in voting may consider the track record of HE John Dramani Mahama abysmal  record in government in the development of Northern Ghana in general  and mamprugu in particular.

The people of mamprugu in voting will consider major indicators interms of development such as:
1.  Provision of portable drinking water. The Mahamas administration has failed woefully interms of providing safe portal drinking to the people of Mamprugu as boarding schools in colleges in mamprugu are currently faced with acute water shortages their various campuses.
It had to take a private individual in person of Dr Bawumiato provide the Walewale district hospital with a mechanised bore hole and the provision of of polytanks in various campuses of mamprugu to help address the acute water shotrtage situation in Mamprugu.

Road Infrastructure.  Interms of roads the the John Mahama led government has performed abysmally in Mamprugu as all major roads are deplorable state.
The Walewale- Nalerigu stretch of road is still in a deplorable state.
All feeder roads have not seen any maintenance since 2009. It is regrettable to state that, Mamprugu has no complete tarred road.
Work on the  Walewale – Wa road that consistently appear in the governing NDCs budget statements since 2010  yet to commence.
The BUNKURUGU district since its inception is yet to have a district hospital. All communities under the Bunkrugu district access health from the over streched Nalerigu Baptist Medical Centre.
The cotton indusrty which use to create jobs and ready market for our farmers in the North in general and mamprugu in particular is in complete disarray as the Ghana Cotton Company has died a natural death.
All cotton ginneries in Tumu in the upper west region, Bolgatanga in the upper east region and Tamale in the Northern Region have now shut down and turned into worshipping centres.
We are therefore by this statement calling on the president to rather invest his energies in redeeming SADA which has now become a vehicle for corruption to bridge the developmental gap between the North and the South rather than engaging in dirty tribal politics.

Long live Ghana
Long live NPP
So No to tribal politics.

SIGNED
SIMON ALI
WALEWALE CONSTITUENCY SECRETARY.
