NPPs Record In Office Unmatched Kufuor

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has said despite being in office for only eight years, the record of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), from 2001 to 2009, is unmatched in the annals of Ghana’s multiparty democratic dispensation.

According to President Kufuor, Ghanaians can attest to the numerous interventions the party implemented, which improved the quality of life of citizens, as well as developed the country.

President Kufuor made this known on Thursday, July 14, 2016, when he, together with the 2016 presidential candidate of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, paid a courtesy call on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace.

The former President said the good life Ghanaians were afforded under the NPP government was the bane of the party in the 2008 elections, as Ghanaians forgot about how bad the situation in Ghana was prior to the NPP taking office.

“In the last eight years, however, Ghanaians have been witnesses to how bad things are. Nana Akufo-Addo was a key and integral member of my government which chalked all these successes. There is a saying, which I entreat all of you to pay attention to, which states that ‘when you want to send someone with a message, you send one who is wise, and not one with long legs.”

Governance, President Kufuor noted, “Is not about slogans or propaganda. We in the NPP are serious about the business of governance, and how to give the Ghanaian people a decent standard of living.”

He continued,“I am here with Nana Akufo-Addo to seek the blessings of Asanteman, and ask for your support for him in the run-up to this year’s elections. I assure you that if we are given the support and blessings, Ghana will testify to our good works in office.”
