NPP Candidate Assures Constituents Of More Progress

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Abetifi bye-election, Mr. Bryan Acheampong, has pledged to work to improve the lives of people in the constituency if elected.

He said he would focus on the provision of portable water, health promotion, good environmental sanitation, roads improvement and the establishment of agro-processing industries.

The situation where about 70 per cent of the area’s population of about 100,000 lacked access to potable water and forced to drink from contaminated streams and rivers was unacceptable and would radically change.

Mr. Acheampong, articulating his development vision, on an Nkawkaw-based FM radio station, said he found it disheartening the bad state of roads linking the farming communities, something which was making it difficult to transport farm produce to the marketing centres.

That, he noted, was a huge disincentive to agricultural production and could not be allowed to persist saying he was going to deploy his own road construction machinery on these roads to get them into good shape.

Mr. Acheampong spoke of attempts in the past to provide the free service and said these had been frustrated by government officials.

He was upbeat that it would become a completely different situation if he was given the mandate by the people to represent them in parliament.

The Abetifi parliamentary by-election would be held tomorrow, July 16.
